The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Åre will be the Swedish premiere for the brand-new electric car. A fleet of 50 shuttle cars will arrive from the World Economic Forum in Davos to be used by the organizing committee for sustainable transport of athletes and other accredited participants in Åre.
- We have reached a point where we need to act sustainably for the long run, both in the world of skiing and in the car industry. Åre 2019 wishes to become a role model for Championships to come. Audi is one of the main partners of international ski racing and I am impressed by their commitment to electrification and sustainable mobility, said Niklas Carlsson, CEO of Åre 2019.
During the Championship in Åre, visitors will be able to test-drive the electric SUV on Lake Åre opposite to the finish area.
- It is indeed a perfect timing and we are proud to support the ambitious goals of Åre 2019 to carry out the first ISO-certified, sustainable World Ski Championships. It was a challenge to find enough charging stations in Åre however, so we had to set up temporary stations for the event, says Maria Andrén, Sponsoring and event manager at Audi Sweden.
Audi e-tron is a fully electric SUV with 95 kW battery and a range of up to 417 km according to WLTP. The car is produced in Brussels in the world’s first certified CO2-neutral, high-volume production plant. Until 2025, Audi plans to launch 12 electric car models and more than 20 plug-in hybrids in addition to the electrified mild-hybrids and biogas fueled models already in the program.
