Last year the Swedish director Ruben Östlund’s The Square won the Palme d’Or and was nominated for both an Oscar® and Golden Globe. This year another Film i Väst co-production is competing in the Official Selection: The Wild Pear Tree by Nuri Bilge Ceylan (who won a Palme d’Or 2014).

We’re proud co-producers of three additional features in the Festival de Cannes, all shot and/or postproduced at Film i Väst’s Region Västra Götaland, Sweden:

  • Official Selection – Out of Competition Lars von Trier’s The House That Jack Built starring Matt Dillon, Uma Thurman, Bruno Ganz, Riley Keough and Sofie Gråböl.
  • Un Certain Regard – Ali Abbasi’s, Border based on a short story by John Ajvide Lindqvist (author of Let the Right One In).
  • Semaine de la Critique, Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s Fugue.

Film i Väst will host a press lunch on Saturday, May 12, where Mikael Fellenius, CEO, and Peter Possne, Head of Production, will present this year’s Cannes line-up and upcoming projects, followed by roundtable interviews with filmmakers and talent.
