New website compiles information about working and setting up a company in Sweden

Share
What are the rules for coming to Sweden to work or start a business? How do work permits, wages and hiring practices function in the Swedish labour market? These are some of the questions that the new site workinginsweden.se gives answers to.

Until now, people from other countries looking for information about the Swedish labour market have had to search through a number of different websites. The idea of workinginsweden.se is instead to offer a single site that gives visitors an overview of rules and regulations and points them in the right direction.

The website is the result of a government assignment given a year ago to eight relevant authorities – the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen), Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket), Försäkringskassan (Social Insurance Agency), National Board of Trade Sweden (Kommerskollegium), Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket), Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) and the Swedish Institute. The Swedish Institute has led the project.

Workinginsweden.se is aimed at foreign workers, self-employed persons and employers who work or intend to work or operate in Sweden, as well as Swedish employers who engage foreign labour. Some of the government’s goals have been to make it easier to do business in Sweden and for employees to learn about their rights. The assignment also supports Sweden’s export strategy and investment promotion, for example by making it easier for foreign companies that consider establishing their business in Sweden.
