SJ has just released ticket sales for Winter 2019, including the time period of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Åre in February 2019. The so-called "Christmas trips" are available from 9 December 2018 until 7 April 2019. It’s time to book your train trip to Åre from Stockholm, Östersund or any other part of Sweden!

Following the Åre 2019 pledge to stage the first fossil-fuel free World Championships in history, the organizers hope that as many Åre 2019 visitors as possible take advantage of the opportunity to take the train to Åre. SJ has already announced that there will be two daily connections to Åre starting in June 2018, one during the day and the other at night.

– Train as a transport option is extremely important for us and offers a great option for our World Championships visitors. It is an uncomplicated and smooth way to travel and we hope that many of our visitors choose to take the train up here, said Ulrika Svensson, Marketing Manager at Åre 2019.

Traffic arrangements in a small town like Åre can be complicated during large events and parking places are guaranteed to be limited. The train will be a comfortable option as it will be possible to take the night train up from Stockholm, and then travel back home after the competitions the same day. The train stops right in the middle of the town and everything will be within a walking distance. There will be also free shuttle buses available to travel from the station to the Swedish National Arena and back.

Thanks to the increased night train options to Åre, the prices have been reduced and those booking early can benefit from additional significant savings. To book your trip now, visit SJ’s home page.

Where life can be lived - reflections of a volonteer19.2.2019 09:34:46 CETPressmeddelande

Yet another Alpine World Championship in Åre has come to an end. The third through the years. Skiers, visitors and volunteers have lived and breathed the World Championships for weeks. The organization has done the same for years. Beyond all the races that have been raced, the medals that have been awarded, something else has taken place. Perhaps the thoughts have been thought before, maybe they have been awaken when being here. Thoughts of the real meaning of life, or rather, thoughts of what kind of life we want to live. Thoughts of where our children should grow up, of where our everyday lives should take place. Where life should be lived.
