The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships are about much more than just ski racing. The Sponsor Village, Åre Square and Medals Plaza will all contribute to a great atmosphere, not least thanks to myriad music acts that will get the crowds to dance. Teddybears, the performers of the official World Championships song, will be the first highlight show on the main stage at Medals Plaza, followed by the celebrated hip hop band Hov1.
– We want to offer something for everyone and that’s why we are happy that we can present names from Teddybears to Rakel and Linda Sundblad. We believe that especially the young crowd will be excited to see someone like Hov1 live at Medals Plaza, said Per Wiklander, arena producer for Åre 2019.
Sandro Cavazza, Mariette, Linda Sundblad and ISA are among those who will play at Medals Plaza and the National Arena. Artists including Rakel, Selma & Gustaf, Tanja Nordfjell, Engmans kapell and Paulo Mendonca represent different types of music and cultural backgrounds. Per Wiklander guarantees that there will be something for everyone.
– The mixture of different music genres is unique for the World Championships. We really have everything on offer, from sing-along after-ski and DJ’s to the hottest stars of the day. The warm-up at the Arena will include samba tunes, traditional Sami songs, party bands and folk rock as well as up-and-coming Swedish pop stars. It will be rad, said Wiklander and continued:
– We are proud to present such a great selection of entertainment. We are basically organizing our own music festival where big and small, local and national acts all blend. Multiple aspects of our culture will come together under the World Championships banner.
And it is not only the Åre 2019 organizers that see the event as a chance to feature Swedish and regional music culture. The artists also see the Championships as a great way to reach out.
– A performance at the World Championships automatically means a chance to stand in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd so obviously it is a dream gig. And a fantastic opportunity to showcase your music and brand to a large audience.
An hour-long, varied music program will be offered at the National Arena as a warm-up before the beginning of each medal competition. In addition, the Food & Beer Court in the Sponsor Village will offer After- and Between-the-Runs Ski every day while the evening program on the main stage at Medals Plaza guarantees a festive celebration at night.
