A new classical ballet depicting the life of Gustav Badin at the Swedish Royal Court, choreographed by Pär Isberg and directed by Amir Chamdin. Gustavia depicts the story, unknown to many Swedes, of two boys growing up at the same time at the Swedish Royal Court; the future king, Gustav III, and his adopted brother, Gustav Badin. Originally named Kwasi/Couschi, he is enslaved on the Danish colony of Saint Croix in the West Indies and then brought to Sweden as a gift to Queen Lovisa Ulrika. A social experiment that challenges society's norms takes place, where the two boys are raised together, but in completely different ways. One born prince, the other adopted into the royal family. World premiere at the Royal Swedish Opera on October 18. Tickets on sale May 2.

This year's Christmas greeting from the Crown Princess and her family was recorded at the Royal Swedish Opera. Before a performance of the ballet Cinderella, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar got to know the Opera House and meet dancers and costume designers, both on stage and behind the scenes.

The Bergman Festival, the international theatre festival at the Royal Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten) in Stockholm, Sweden will offer the audience guest performances spread out over the coming season.

Karolinska Institutet (KI) has today decided to confer honorary doctorates upon HRH Prince Daniel, Dr. Soumya Swaminathan and Professor Shinhiro Takeda. The formal ceremony will take place in conjunction with a graduation ceremony to be held in Stockholm City Hall (COVID permitting) on 29th April.

On August 23, the fourth Ingmar Bergman International Theatre Festival opens at the Royal Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten), offering eleven days of guest performances from countries that include Iran, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Brazil, France and Belgium. Six new Dramaten productions will premiere during the festival, a screening of Jane Magnusson's forthcoming film, Ingmar Bergman: A Year, a Life. When the festival ends on September 2, more than 200 visiting actors, directors and theatre technicians will have convened on the national stage in more than 50 productions, discussions, workshops and film screenings.
