The Swedish Network of Convention Bureaus will play host to the first meeting of 2025 for The Strategic Alliance of the National Convention Bureaux of Europe (SANCBE), a network of 29 national destination marketing organisations, on 30–31 January. The global meetings sector is growing rapidly, and the alliance aims to strengthen Europe’s position as a destination for international business events.

Denna vecka kommer nära 1 000 europeiska barntandläkare till Svenska Mässan. Det är en av de stora kongresser som äger rum i Göteborg under juni. Första sommarmånaden är en stark mötesperiod som samlar drygt 4 000 deltagare på ett tiotal möten i olika ämnen.

Snart kan arrangörer av möten och evenemang besöka Göteborg i en interaktiv digital värld. Där får besökaren sällskap av en guide och kan själv välja platser, arenor och hotell som ska besökas. Det blir ett helt nytt och unikt verktyg som visar upp vad destinationen kan erbjuda.

Världsledande medicinsk forskning, internationell undersökande journalistik och teknisk spetskompetens. Det är ämnena för några av de stora möten och kongresser som hållits i Göteborg under året. Tusentals mötesdelegater har bidragit till ökad kunskap och kompetens i staden, fler hotellnätter och högre turismomsättning.

At the end of April next year, SAS starts a new direct flight between Gothenburg and New York. The direct link will mean a lot for more visitors to explore and choose Gothenburg. – It shows that there is great faith in Gothenburg as a destination. Hybrid+ is a new innovative tool from Göteborg & Co for creating new and improved digital meeting experiences. Hybrid meetings play an integral part in the future development of meetings and events.

During Gothenburg Convention Bureaus annual members meeting, Gothenburg was awarded the IAPCO Driving Excellence Award. The award, nominated by IAPCO member Kenes Group, recognises a supplier that has gone above and beyond in their service, commitment and delivery of a successful meeting.

Gothenburg is at the top among the world's most sustainable cities for the fourth year in a row according to the Global Destination Sustainability Index 2019. This was revealed on Wednesday at ICCA World congress in Houston.

Gothenburg has a clear plan - international meetings are an important part of the development of Sweden's fastest-growing metropolitan area. Businesses, local government, academia and the meetings industry have come together to form a plan for the future.

AstraZeneca in Gothenburg works proactively with Göteborg & Co to recruit large, international medical congresses to Gothenburg. This unique partnership began a couple of years ago and has already generated good results. “Congresses boost Gothenburg’s image as a regional centre for research and help to attract the skills that will continue building excellence,” says Matti Ahlqvist, Site Director at AstraZeneca.

Gothenburg is looking forward to receiving the delegates of the Associations World Congress & Expo in April 2019. The extensive programme was launched at IBTM World in Barcelona on Wednesday 28th November.

For the third year in a row, Gothenburg has come out on top when it comes to sustainability, according to Global Destination Sustainability Index 2018, which was revealed on Wednesday. This is a broad international ranking of sustainability work being done in 50 world cities.
