Despite large subsidies, Europe's farmers are shutting down their farms. More than one in three farmers in the EU have disappeared between 2005 and 2020. The reason is the strict environmental regulations in the name of the Green Deal.

Europe is losing ground relative to the rest of the world: since the turn of the millennium, real disposable income has grown nearly twice as much in the US as in the EU. Den förra kommissionen pratade i princip bara hållbarhet, reaktionerna från parlamentsvalet i höstas har fått den kören att tystna, och nu är de regelförenklingar och konkurrenskraft som gäller. Gütersloh, 08.05.2024. 60 percent of Europeans intend to cast their ballots in the European Elections in June. This would be around 10 percent more than in the last elections five years ago. This is the outcome of the new "eupinions" survey conducted by the Bertelsmann Stiftung. The survey also reveals that 75 percent of the European electorate know Ursula von der Leyen by name and face. This means that the current commission president is considerably better known than her predecessors. At the same time, 70 percent of those surveyed indicated that they felt inadequately informed about the commission president's work.
