Nine European theatres paint a picture of Europe during the pandemic

What does everyday life look like when everything is turned upside down? What choices and difficulties do they face that now have to work for almost 24 hours? Nurses, cleaners, taxi drivers and other people from all over Europe who work in various community-carrying functions are allowed to speak freely from the heart about an extremely unusual time.
Short monologues based on the personal and existential stories from the interviewees, adapted by dramatist´s, filmed and performed by actors from the different theatres. The films are subtitled in English and will be aired on the participating theatres' websites.
Stories from Europe: Crisis and Reflection is an international collaboration between the theatres in the Mitos21 network, initiated by the Royal Dramatic Theatre, in Stockholm. Sweden. Premiere at dramaten.se on June 12, at noon.
It feels incredibly important, despite the Corona virus and closed national borders, to continue to develop our international relations. As of right now: only in digital and ephemeral form. However, since I consider it to be an especially important mission to strengthen and deepen our relationship with Europe and the rest of the world, this is therefore a part of the continued work we have as Sweden's national theatre, says Mattias Andersson, Artistic Director for the Royal Dramatic Theatre.

The Royal Dramatic Theatre, best known as Dramaten, is Sweden’s national theatre.In accordance with its assignment from the Swedish government to preserve theatre history and promote the development of the dramatic arts, the Royal Dramatic Theatre produces performances of classical theatre, newly-written dramas and plays for children and youth.The Royal Dramatic Theatre is state-owned.Its managing director is Maria Groop Russel, and Mattias Andersson is the theatre manager and artistic director.
The Royal Dramatic Theatre has been located in its current premises at Nybroplan since 1908. The building houses four stages.The Main Stage seats up to 770 people.The Small Stage is in an adjoining building directly behind the Nybroplan building, on Almlöfsgatan.Since 1997, the Royal Dramatic Theatre has also had a stage at Elverket on Linnégatan 69.

Under hösten gick startskottet för Branschdialogen Scener för hållbarhet där Stockholms och Uppsalas större scener möttes för att dela kunskap och erfarenheter om miljöfrågor. Mattias Anderssons publik- och kritikersuccé Hamlet – The Death of Theatre ges för sista gången på Elverket i december då Dramaten lämnar scenen efter trettio år. Föreställningen har varit slutsåld sedan premiären men nu kan Dramaten glädja publiken med att den får nypremiär 3 oktober 2026 – med Gustav Lindh och Gizem Erdogan som Hamlet och Ofelia.
