MyHeritage släpper en stor samling historiska norska kyrkböcker

MyHeritage, den ledande globala tjänsten för att upptäcka sitt förflutna och stärka sin framtid, tillkännagav idag publiceringen av en omfattande samling norska kyrkböcker. MyHeritage har digitaliserat denna samling i samarbete med Norges Nationalarkiv (Arkivverket). Detta tillägg fördubblar antalet norska historiska poster på MyHeritage, och det totala antalet i MyHeritages historiska postdatabas är nu 12,6 miljarder.

Samlingen av norska kyrkböcker (1815–1938) består av 42,2 miljoner födelse- och dop-, äktenskaps-, döds- och begravningsregister som dokumenterats av Norges evangelisk-lutherska kyrka, vilken förde viktiga register å regeringens vägnar. Samlingen innehåller ett index över transkriberade register och digitala bilder av kyrkans originaldokument. Bilderna har funnits i Norges arkiv i flera år, men de har inte kunnat sökas efter namn. Detta är första gången som norska kyrkböcker har indexerats och gjorts tillgängliga online.
Uppgifterna i denna samling går tillbaka till 1815 och täcker en kritisk period i Norges historia, som börjar endast ett år efter brytningen med Danmark. Denna viktiga samling hjälper till att övervinna de betydande luckorna i norska folkräkningar, som tagits från 1801 till 1865. Fem folkräkningar samlades in i Norge under dessa år, men de registrerade inte namnen på individer, vilket gjorde kyrkans register till den slutgiltiga källan för släktforskning under den perioden. På grund av norska sekretesslagar sträcker sig de födelse- och dopregister som släppts i denna samling fram till och med 1919, äktenskapsposterna sträcker sig till och med 1937 och döds- och begravningsregisterna sträcker sig fram till och med 1938.
Med lanseringen av denna samling erbjuder MyHeritage nu 80 miljoner historiska poster från Norge.
