From New York to Upplands-Bro – the municipality helps President Zelenskyy thank the world

The large road sign on E18 in Upplands-Bro currently shows a unique greeting: "Thank you Sweden for your support!" which meets the traffic going in and out of the Stockholm region. The greeting is sent from UNITED24 – the official fundraising platform of Ukraine launched by the President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. 

– In one year of work, UNITED24 has brought people from 110 countries together in helping Ukraine. We want to thank them for their support and for lending a shoulder; for giving us the feeling that we are not alone in this fight. We see great strength in the community of like-minded people who stand with us today, will stand with us tomorrow, and will stand with Ukraine for many years after the victory. The Thank You campaign is the least we can do to show our appreciation, says Yaroslava Gres, UNITED24 main coordinator.

UNITED24 has started the global “Thank You campaign” with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The main goal of the initiative is to thank everyone who supported Ukraine during this last year. Initially, UNITED24 messages have appeared in Times Square, New York, and Leicester Square, London. The campaign was also supported by the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall in Manhattan, as well as the European Council in Brussels. The campaign has also been supported by Poland (campaign was launched throughout the country), Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden in Upplands-Bro Kommun.

– In times like these it is important to show support for people whose everyday life and security have been turned upside down. We at Upplands-Bro feel honored about the possibility to help Ukraine express its gratitude to the Swedish people. With continued support for Ukraine, we hope for a better future, says Fredrik Kjos, Chairman of the Municipal Board.

Upplands-Bro municipality shows President Zelenskyy's thank you message on the sign on E18 from May 12th to May 19th. The greeting can also be seen on digital screens in the municipality's sports halls.

– The municipality has previously expressed its support for the Ukrainian people. We stand with Ukraine and are honored to be able to help President Zelenskyy express his gratitude to the Swedish people. Support from the international community is crucial in times like these and we are proud to be a part of it, says Municipal Director Ida Texell.
