Swedish triple in the Sweden H&M Grand Prix
Peder Fredricson concluded the competitions at Strawberry Arena with a victory in the Sweden H&M Grand Prix, riding the talented Sv Vroom de la Pomme Z, ahead of two national team colleagues.
“He’s starting to feel really confident in the arena,” Peder said after the competition.
It was a Swedish triple in the major showjumping class at Sweden International Horse Show in Strawberry Arena this weekend. Peder Fredricson claimed the top spot ahead of Amanda Landeblad and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. All in all Peder Fredricson claimed four podium finishes in his five starts during the weekend.
“It has been a fantastic weekend and an amazing competition. The atmosphere with the audience was great”, Peder said at the press conference.
Vroom de la Pomme is 10 years old, and Peder Fredricson has been riding him for two years. It's been a slow build-up, but in recent months, the results have started to come, with placements in the World Cup and a win at the national Flyinge Grand Prix last weekend.
“Sofie Stenbeck is the owner, and she is here today, so that makes it extra special. It hasn’t been a straightforward journey, even though he has a lot of talent. But now he’s starting to understand what to do, and it’s a great feeling when you reach that point,” Peder Fredricson said.
Runner-up Amanda Landeblad is known for being reliable and delivering clear rounds in Nations Cup events. However, fast jump-offs at the highest levels haven't been her speciality, until now. Wanting to do better after finishing fourth in Friday's class, she took a bold approach and was the first to attempt a tight inside turn after the third jump-off fence.
“It felt like I was riding incredibly fast, but apparently it wasn’t quick enough. I haven’t really ridden against the clock at any levels with For Killy. I tried a bit in Helsinki, but that wasn’t fast enough either. On Friday, I felt I pushed more, but I ended up taking too many strides. Today, there were still a few too many strides, but it's improving, so next time, they better watch out,” Amanda Landeblad said, and seemed quite satisfied with her second place after all.
Veteran Rolf-Göran Bengtsson was less pleased. Despite having a good weekend, his best result before the final class was third place. He did his outmost to match his fellow competitors’ times, but had to settle for another third place.
“They were just too good, plain and simple,” Rolf-Göran Bengtsson said with a smile.
“No, but I’m very happy. The horses have jumped clear rounds the whole weekend, and I just need to do more jump-offs myself; I’m a bit rusty right now,” he admits.
