Great comeback by Frida Andersén - from last to first place in the Agria Indoor Eventing
Thursday evening she fell off the borrowed horse Stinger, but on Sunday, everything came together for Swedish Olympic rider Frida Andersén, who claimed the second victory of her career in the Agria Indoor Eventing at Strawberry Arena.
“When I walked the course, I didn’t really have a clear plan”, Frida Andersén admitted at the press conference after the competition.

The Agria Indoor Eventing, where the riders compete on a course designed to challenge them as well as showing off their fantastic sport to loud music, is truly an audience favourite in Stockholm. Frida Andersén won the competition in 2021. And this years edition did not disappoint.
When Frida Andersén entered the course on Sunday evening, she didn't really have a plan, except to avoid repeating Thursday’s result where she fell off after a slight misunderstanding.
"My plan was anything but to do the same thing again. But today I had a good feeling because I've been riding him for a few days, and we were more like a team. I got a bit nervous when I walked the course, to be honest. When I left the course walk, I didn’t have a clear plan. I had a few different plans, and when I came in I just made it up along the way. It seems like I chose the right one," Frida Andersén said.
Stinger is 17 years old and is usually competed by young rider Wilma Nyhlén and previously by Ludwig Svennerstål, who took him to the World Championships in Tryon in 2018. This weekend, he got to try indoor eventing with Paris Olympian rider Frida Andersén in the saddle.
"I always think it’s one of the highlights of the year to come here. It’s different from what we usually do, but it’s an opportunity for us to show the Swedish audience our sport, and I think it’s very good for us to be here", Frida Andersén said.
Thursday’s winner, the experienced Niklas Lindbäck, had to settle for second place in the final class.
"I’m happy with my horse; he worked really hard and gave everything. I took the flag and knew I had to go for it. You really have to push, but I’m a bit disappointed that I made some of those mistakes", Niklas Lindbäck said.
Third placed rider was the Brazilian rider Ruy Fonseca, who has a special fondness for Sweden.
"The first time I came to Sweden was for the World Equestrian Games in 1990. I was 16 and a boy dreaming about riding. Later, I trained under Lars Cederholm and Yogi Breisner, and I would say they changed my career. Coming back here 34 years later to compete in front of this amazing audience at this fantastic event was very special for me", he said.
