Soretto and Vidar – Winners of the SWB Trophy presented by Hyperion

"I am so proud of Soretto; he is such a talented boy. He enjoys having fun and is very curious. He always wants to see what’s around the next corner and doesn’t get tense easily," said Yvonne Österholm.

Soretto (SWB), born in 2019 by Blue Hors St. Schufro – Quaterback, was bred and is owned by Per-Arne Persson, with whom Yvonne has had a long-standing collaboration.

"I have worked together with Per-Arne Persson, a fantastic breeder and person. He is here with me today as a groom, and he was very proud of his horse in the arena."

Yvonne describes Soretto as a natural talent.

"Soretto has very natural gaits and is energetic, yet always relaxed. As I said, a truly talented boy."

If Soretto was calm, then the one-year-older Vidar was a bit more wild.

"Vidar was a little too fresh and lively—during the warm-up, he was more up in the air than on the ground. So today, I had to ride safely and take it easy, not the best feeling. But he is an absolutely amazing horse—sometimes, it’s just one of those days," said his rider, Anna Svanberg.

Vidar (SWB), by Total Hope – Dalwhinnie (SWB), was bred by Helixad AB and is owned by Kersö Equestrian and Anna Svanberg Dressyr AB. He has clear goals ahead for 2025.

"This year, I hope we can compete in the seven-year-old classes and the Young Horse World Championships," said Anna.

Both Yvonne and Anna consider the SWB Trophy presented by Hyperion an important competition for young horses' careers.

"It is great for young horses to experience the atmosphere—it serves as preparation for the future," said Anna Svanberg.

Vicky Castegren, sponsor from Hyperion Stud, was very pleased after the class.

"Dressage is quite new to me personally, but now that my daughter Anja is competing, I have had to catch up on knowledge quickly. When it comes to young horses, I don’t think the discipline matters that much—it’s all about training them at a steady pace and giving them good experiences. It’s important to set appropriately sized goals early in their careers and expose them to the kind of atmosphere they may encounter over the next three to four years."

"We have acquired several dressage horses ourselves, and I hope that one of them can reach this level someday."

This year marks Hyperion’s third year partnering with Gothenburg Horse Show, and Vicky Castegren is open to extending the collaboration.

"It’s so rewarding to give breeders the opportunity to see their horses in an environment like this, and I think we’ll be involved for quite some time to come."
