Podme announces audiobook launch in Sweden and Finland

Podme is expanding its audio offering to include audiobooks, launching in Sweden and Finland at the end of June. The move is a strategic and customer-driven step that builds on Podme’s existing strengths in premium audio and comes in direct response to strong interest from the brand’s more than 350,000 paying subscribers.

“Our surveys show that our subscribers are not only interested in, but also willing to pay for a combined service with podcasts and audiobooks. So this expansion is really a direct response to what our users are asking for”, says Martina Göransson, CEO, Podme.
"As part of Schibsted, we are also contributing to a broader ambition: to build the leading media destination in the Nordics. With a growing focus on audio and video across the group, Podme plays a key role in expanding the audio landscape in a sustainable way," she constinue.

Sweden and Finland will be the first markets to launch the new audiobook experience, reflecting local regulatory conditions. Podme is actively exploring opportunities to introduce audiobooks in Norway later this year, which remains a key market for Podme.
