What if you could explore Gothenburg from wherever you are? We are getting closer. Gothenburg’s digital site visits make it possible to experience venues, hotels and attractions from anywhere, receive instant personalised documentation, and make the decision-making process easier, more sustainable and more efficient.

Gothenburg has reached a new milestone in the development of its game-changing digital site visits, where static slides are replaced with realistic 3D visuals and scenario-based storytelling.

“Last year we presented a vision of what we aimed for with this project. In less than a year the project has gone from vision to a concept-phase. Soon we will be ready to start the first sprint in producing the tool – with hope to launch it in 2026.”  says Fredrik Lundgren Senior Project Manager Gothenburg Convention Bureau.

The digital site visits are designed to showcase the city of Gothenburg and its venues to international event organisers in a visually compelling, data-rich and engaging format. Users will be accompanied by a digital guide and can select the places, arenas and hotels they wish to explore. Immediately after the tour, tailored information will be sent to support an easy and sustainable decision-making process.

The platform is built on the Digital Twin of Gothenburg, which integrates real-time data layers, customisable scenarios and immersive 3D environments – providing a highly informative and visually impactful way to present the city remotely to potential event organisers. The beta version is scheduled for launch in 2026.

Sweden tops the world in number of islands – 10 of the most beautiful in the Gothenburg Archipelago20.1.2026 16:01:31 CET | Pressmeddelande

Think Greece has the most islands? Or Indonesia? Think again. Did you know that Sweden has the highest number of islands in the world? The west coast of Sweden is home to around 14,000 islands, most of them untouched and uninhabited. About 2,000 of these islands lie just off the coast of Gothenburg, the city where Volvo was born and a paradise for fish and seafood lovers due to the cold, salty waters. We highlight 10 of the most beautiful islands, almost all easily accessible, several offering accommodations and more than half entirely car-free.
