From Auction to Action
Act Church of Sweden is taking part in Auktionsgåvan, an initiative in which art and design can help achieve a more just world.

Act Church of Sweden is proud to be one of three organisations involved from the start in the Auktionsgåvan initiative, a new partnership with auctioneers Stockholms Auktionsverk in which individuals have the opportunity to donate artworks and design items. All proceeds from the sales will be donated to vital initiatives around the globe.
The Auktionsgåvan initiative enables people to turn their generosity into practical action by allowing items they no longer need to become part of something bigger. This is a new way for Act Church of Sweden to engage people in the fight against injustice, poverty and disaster.
“We consider Auktionsgåvan to be a meaningful and modern means of contributing to a more just world,” says Erik Lysén, Head of Act Church of Sweden. “By turning beautiful objects into vital support, we can work together to save lives and generate hope for the future in vulnerable parts of the world.”
The collaboration means that individuals can easily submit valuable items for valuation and auction. If the item is valued at over SEK 5,000, the donor can choose to donate it by filling out a deed of gift form. Proceeds from sales go directly to Act Church of Sweden, which works globally on emergency relief and long-term development.
“Auktionsgåvan is a great example of how combining creativity with commitment can achieve real change. We are happy to be part of this initiative, where every piece of furniture or painting can help provide a refugee with food, water, schooling or shelter,” concludes Erik Lysén.
How it works:
1. Valuation: The donor contacts Stockholms Auktionsverk.
2. Donation: If the value of the item exceeds SEK 5,000, the donor fills out a deed of gift form, and the item is then transferred to Act Church of Sweden.
3. Auction: The item is sold online under the Auktionsgåvan label. The proceeds go towards funding the work of the organisation.
4. Acknowledgement: The donor receives a thank you letter and information on the outcome.
