New breakthrough in chronic pain treatment presented at Swedish Fascia Convention
At the 2025 Swedish Fascia Convention, a pioneering method was introduced that may reshape how we treat chronic pain. The approach combines intravenous vitamin C and magnesium with targeted fascia therapy – and early results are remarkable.
One patient with frozen shoulder, unresponsive to months of physiotherapy, regained full mobility after just one session.
“I could lift my arms above my head – for the first time in over six months.”
Developed by Swedish innovator Hans Bohlin in collaboration with Dr. Mareike Claussen, this method supports collagen production, strengthens the immune system, and accelerates tissue healing by working with the body’s own intelligence.
Now being explored further within Fascia Clinics, this integrative approach may open new doors to holistic pain care in Sweden and beyond.

New breakthrough in chronic pain treatment
At the 2025 Swedish Fascia Convention – an international event that brings together researchers, therapists, and innovators in the field of integrative health and fascia science – a pioneering treatment method was unveiled that may reshape how we understand and treat chronic pain.
Combining intravenous vitamin C with manual fascia therapy, this new approach is showing unexpectedly strong results – especially in patients with frozen shoulder.
Swedish researcher and innovator Hans Bohlin, together with Dr. Håkan Borg, conducted a study on frozen shoulder in 2019 with highly promising outcomes. The method has since been further developed in collaboration with Dr. Mareike Claussen.
One patient, who had suffered for months with intense pain and restricted movement, experienced a dramatic breakthrough. Despite multiple rounds of traditional physiotherapy, the shoulder remained locked. However, after just one session involving IV vitamin C and magnesium in combination with fascia treatment, the restriction suddenly released.
“Right after the treatment, I could raise my arms above my head – for the first time in over six months.”
Tapping into the body's innate healing intelligence
Intravenous delivery of vitamin C bypasses the digestive system, allowing essential nutrients to reach inflamed or damaged tissue more effectively and rapidly.
Fascia – the connective tissue network that supports and integrates muscles, organs, and systems – plays a vital role in both movement and healing. By treating the fascia while the body receives bioavailable vitamin C, a powerful synergy is created:
-
Collagen production is stimulated
-
The immune system is supported
-
Tissue repair and regeneration are enhanced
“As a therapist, it’s incredible to see. After five or six sessions with little improvement, the vitamin C and magnesium made all the difference,” the practitioner shared.
A new direction for chronic pain care?
Intravenous vitamin C is already used in many countries to support recovery and immune function. But combining it with fascia treatment is a novel approach – and one that could change the way chronic pain is managed in Sweden and internationally.
“We believe that many people suffer from long-term vitamin C deficiency. When you address fascia at the same time, you can treat both the biochemical and structural causes of pain,” explains the team behind the method.
This innovative treatment is currently being further explored within the Fascia Clinics and may mark an important step toward a more holistic and natural form of pain care.
