On account of the situation in Gaza: Prayers and bell-ringing for the victims and for peace in Israel and Palestine.
All bishops of the Church of Sweden call upon their congregations to ring their church bells for the victims in Gaza and for peace in Israel and Palestine during the Holy Communion service on Sunday.

“The church has always brought people together for worship and prayer in times both dark and light,” says Archbishop Martin Modéus. “Communal prayer is powerful in itself. We pray constantly for peace and for the victims of the horrors of war. With Sunday’s extended bell-ringing, we want to pray in particular for Gaza, and for peace in Israel and Palestine, for all those affected by this horrific war.”
On account of the situation in Gaza, the Bishops’ Conference is calling for bell-ringing for the deceased to be extended at Holy Communion services in churches this Sunday, 10 August. During this extended bell-ringing, we will pray for the victims in Gaza and for peace in Israel and Palestine.
Prayer by Archbishop Martin Modéus:
God, we pray for all those suffering in the horrors of Gaza.
For those mourning their dead, for the wounded, for the powerless and for those in captivity.
We pray for all those lacking the necessities of life and for the people who suffer from starvation.
We pray for all those who work for peace and reconciliation, and that those who oppose justice and peace will repent.
God, bring your peace to this place of suffering.
