Changes in guarantees of origin when purchasing electricity
12.12.2023 14:06:00 CET | Green Cargo (ENG) | News
Starting in 2024, Green Cargo will purchase guarantees of origin for fossil-free electricity production (wind, hydro- and nuclear power) instead of guarantees of origin for renewable electricity production (wind and hydropower) from the Swedish Transport Administration. This is a result of the dramatic price increase for guarantees of origin for renewable electricity noted during the end of 2022.

Prices for guarantees of origin are volatile and it is difficult to assess and ensure a price ahead of time. The current market prices that the Swedish Transport Administration provided in autumn 2023 are equivalent to approximately SEK 0.04–0.05 per kWh for renewable electricity production (wind and hydropower) and approximately SEK 0.008–0.009 per kWh for fossil-free electricity production (wind, hydro- and nuclear power).
Customers who still wish to purchase guarantees of origin for renewable electricity production (wind and hydropower) will be able to do so in a separate order to Green Cargo no later than December 15, 2023. Contact your usual sales representative for more information.
