Today marks the opening of the preview for The Signature Sale – one of Stockholms Auktionsverk’s most popular auctions, and the first live hammer auction since the acquisition of Uppsala Auktionskammare in August. Two of Sweden’s most historic auction houses have now joined forces, embarking on an exciting new era together.

"It is truly wonderful to launch the season with The Signature Sale, a curated and welcoming celebration of art, design, and craftsmanship – an expressive display of beauty and quality for both seasoned collectors and those seeking something with a personal touch. The auction also marks the beginning of a new chapter, as Stockholms Auktionsverk and Uppsala Auktionskammare now stand united. We look forward to an inspiring journey together with our valued clients this autumn," says Cecilia Gave, CEO of Stockholms Auktionsverk.

The Signature Sale is Stockholms Auktionsverk’s most multifaceted auction, where fine art, design, decorative arts, and antiques come together in an inspiring whole, with quality and character at its core.

"The Signature Sale is a place where eras meet and where every piece carries its own unique story. The viewing is designed as a vivid living room where influential artists and designers from across the eras converge – a generous setting offering something for every taste," says Victoria Svederberg, Head of the Art Department at Stockholms Auktionsverk.

The auction truly offers something for every eye, temperament, and passion. Here we find Prince Eugen’s powerful nature scene Tallbacke, Tyresö, Lennart Jirlow’s intimate portrait of artist Gudmar Olovson, and Carl Larsson’s delicate study for Skolungdomens korum. Alongside them stand Siri Derkert and Isaac Grünewald’s bold expressions, Inge Schiöler’s vibrant landscapes, and Lars Jonsson’s lyrical painting Skärfläckor.

For those drawn to design and decorative arts, the catalogue features timeless furniture by Josef Frank and Axel Einar Hjorth, modernist creations by Le Corbusier, Hans Hedberg’s iconic ceramic apple, and even Eero Aarnio’s experimental classic, the “Thunderball” chair.

Another artistic highlight is a representative collection of works by Oskar Bergman, offered directly from the artist’s family, reflecting his lyrical depictions of nature and his significant role in Swedish art history.

The viewing of The Signature Sale opens today at Nybrogatan 32 in Stockholm and runs until the auction on 23 September. Explore the full catalogue here.
