Maria Viimne new CEO of Kommuninvest AB and Kommuninvest Cooperative Society

The boards of Kommuninvest AB and Kommuninvest Cooperative Society have appointed Maria Viimne as the new Chief Executive Officer. Maria will start her new position on January 1, 2026, succeeding the outgoing CEO Katarina Ljungqvist.

Maria Viimne will become the new CEO of both Kommuninvest AB and Kommuninvest Cooperative Society from January 1, 2026. Maria has been employed at Kommuninvest since 1998 and for the past 16 years she has served as Deputy CEO. During her years at Kommuninvest, she has held several roles, including Corporate Lawyer, Head of the Finance Group, Business Manager, and most recently as IT and Development Manager. Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Mälardalen University and a law degree from Stockholm University.

She has a relevant background, solid experience, and a clear ability to build relationships that strengthen collaboration and development. According to this year’s report, the number of environmental and climate‑oriented investments financed with Green Loans from Kommuninvest continues to increase. The impact report for 2025 includes 748 municipal investment projects financed with Green Loans, an increase from 683 projects in the previous year. The investment projects contribute to 598,644 tonnes of reduced or avoided CO₂ emissions annually.

Kommuninvest today issued SEK 3 billion (USD 0,32 billion) in a new bond under the Swedish Benchmark Programme. The new bond, labeled K3112, matures on 10 December 2031 and will be added to the calendar for the programme’s weekly auctions.
