During the election meeting, a new presidium was appointed to lead the work of the General Synod for the next four years. Erik Vikström was elected new chairman of the General Synod’s presidium.

“It is with great humility and gratitude that I am taking on the task of chairing the General Synod,” says Erik Vikström. “I want to work for a forward-looking General Synod that builds on the excellent work of those who have gone before us.”

Erik Vikström is from Luleå diocese and has been a member of two previous General Synods. He was elected by a unanimous General Synod and, at 29, is the youngest chairman to date.
