Maria von Essen & Invoice dazzled the home crowd – winner of the Stockholm Dressage Trophy Grand Prix
It was the home rider Maria von Essen who claimed victory in the opening 4 Dressage Grand Prix on Saturday at the Sweden International Horse Show.
– It was great to be back here again, says Maria after the competition.

Three years ago they were here competing in the young horse classes at the Sweden International Horse Show, but this time it was a victory in the 4* dressage competition for Maria von Essen and Invoice.
”It was great to be here again. The atmosphere is fantastic, and he got a bit tense because of the environment, which makes things a bit tricky, but I still think we did well” said Maria after her ride.
”It’s been a long journey – so much has happened in three years. He has gained experience from these arenas and become more comfortable with them. I can manage it much better now. Today I think I delivered a fairly mistake-free test. Of course you feel the presence of such a large audience; the atmosphere changes completely when you enter the arena” she continues.
In second place today we find Denmark’s Rikke Dupont with Grand Galiano, and in third and fourth place it was Swedish riders again: Sofie Lexner with Inoraline W and Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén with Hyatt. The top three Swedes thus made up three-quarters of the Swedish European Championship team from this summer.
”It has been great to present the European Championship riders to the Swedish audience, because we don’t get to see them in Sweden very often. When things go this well, it’s of course extra fun” says Stefan Jansson, Sweden’s dressage chef d’équipe.
