Belgian victory in Sweden H&M Grand Prix as Gilles Thomas delivers lightning-fast jump-off
The CSI4* Sweden H&M Grand Prix 1.55m culminated in a superb Belgian triumph as 27-year-old Gilles Thomas and Chuck Marienshof Z secured the victory after a challenging and technical competition. Seven riders advanced to the jump-off, but none could match Gilles’ precision and speed, stopping the clock at 34.22 seconds.

The Grand Prix class proved demanding from the outset. Designed to test scop and control, the 14-obstacle course pushed the world-class field to its limits. Only seven combinations produced clear rounds to earn a spot in the deciding jump-off.
In the jump-off, Gilles Thomas delivered a tight, forward ride that set a benchmark no one could surpass. Brazil’s Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Charly Heart came closest, finishing second on 34.96 seconds, while Belgium secured a second podium spot through Olivier Philippaerts and H&M Miro, who crossed the line in 35.13 seconds.
– This was one of our first Grand Prix classes together. He has been jumping well all week, so I had a good feeling going in. The course was difficult and long, and in the jump-off it helped that I rode as the fourth starter. I knew exactly what I needed to do, said Gilles Thomas.
Gilles Thomas’ victory adds yet another highlight to his outstanding season, which has already included the overall win in the Global Champions Tour and double medals at the European Championships. He also praised the atmosphere at Sweden International Horse Show, which traditionally marks the season finale for many riders.
–The crowd is incredible! They cheer for everyone, no matter who was in the arena. The atmosphere is magical, he added.
