MobilityXlab has announced the five startups joining its sixteenth batch, marking a new phase of collaboration between startups and global automotive leaders. The selected companies, originating from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands, will now begin a six-month program focused on technical validation.

The five emerging companies present solutions to advance automated drive systems, increase safety, and improve manufacturing, among others. They are:

  • Ototo (United Kingdom): Provides a Symbolic AI foundation model for autonomous driving. Its technology is designed to be data-efficient and explainable, capable of managing complex road scenarios to move vehicles from L2 to L4 autonomy.

  • Neumo (USA): Developed the NeuroBioMonitor, the first contactless in-vehicle brainwave sensing system. The technology monitors a driver’s cognitive and emotional state in real-time without the need for wearable devices.

  • Geomate (Canada): Delivers AI-powered high-definition maps and simulation-ready digital twins of cities. These tools are used to validate Automated drive systems and support the development of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).

  • Remmen Brakes (Canada): Specialized in non-linear electro-mechanical brakes. The system is designed to be faster and more efficient than traditional braking solutions currently on the market.

  • Resoniks (Netherlands): Uses acoustic-based AI for real-time defect detection across various industries, aiming to reduce production costs and improve manufacturing sustainability.

The startups will work directly with MobilityXlab’s industry partners: Magna, Volvo Group, Zeekr Technology Europe, and Zenseact. The program, hosted by Lindholmen Science Park, aims to accelerate the innovation cycle through Swedish collaboration culture, by providing startups with direct access to the expertise of these global organizations.

“Joining MobilityXlab provides us with the necessary environment to validate our Symbolic AI foundation model for autonomous driving in real-world long tail scenarios” said Ron Maor, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at the British startup Ototo. “Working alongside established industry leaders allows us to deploy our product at large scale within the global automotive supply chain.”

A proven model for industry integration

For startups, the main benefit of the program is a platform for technical validation and direct access to corporate technical experts. For the corporate partners, MobilityXlab offers a direct look at emerging technologies that address the transformation of the automotive industry.

“A core strength of MobilityXlab is our multi-partner model, where our partners identify focus areas and select startups together to meet the future needs of the mobility sector. This collective alignment and approach offer selected startups exposure to several industry leaders at once,” said Viktoria Fagerfjäll, Acting Director at MobilityXlab. “By connecting these five companies with our corporate partners, we create a direct path for innovation and potential acceleration. Our collaboration method allows our partners to explore possibilities to bring new solutions into the market.”

Since its founding in 2017, MobilityXlab has provided structured collaboration between startups and corporate partners. To date, the program has recorded 125 validation projects and 25 accelerations, resulting in commercial contracts or direct investments. With the inclusion of Batch 16, the total portfolio of the program has grown to 119 startups and scaleups.
