Booking opens on Valentine’s Day for Skansen’s summer drop-in weddings
11.2.2026 09:50:00 CET | Skansen open-air museum | Pressmeddelande
On Saturday, Skansen opens booking for its popular summer drop-in weddings, taking place on 13 June. Couples wishing to marry at one of Stockholm’s most scenic locations are offered both drop-in ceremonies and bookable wedding venues – a simple, memorable and affordable alternative. To date, more than 5 500 couples have been married at Skansen.

Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum and a global model for preserving cultural heritage, offers a wide range of ceremony settings. From leafy gardens and traditional summer pastures to historic farmsteads and the iconic Seglora Church. For couples seeking a distinctive experience, the Bredablick Tower is also available, offering panoramic views of Stockholm from 30 metres above ground.
– Skansen weddings are about making it easy to get married in a way that feels both ceremonial and relaxed. Couples can arrive as they are, with a small or large party, and Skansen takes care of the rest, says Matilda Klein, Head of Events at Skansen.
A drop-in wedding ceremony costs SEK 2 900 per couple. For those who prefer to book a specific venue and time in advance, bookable wedding locations are available from SEK 4 995. Ceremonies can be conducted in Swedish or English, and both civil and church weddings are available. International couples and foreign nationals are welcome to marry at Skansen.
– I would say that Skansen offers one of the best-value wedding experiences in Sweden. Couples receive a beautiful setting, a safe and professional organisation, and the opportunity to complement the day with a restaurant visit or a private picnic, says Matilda Klein.
Skansen’s weddings are a well-established and appreciated concept. Since the introduction of drop-in weddings in 2010, 4 550 couples have married through the drop-in format. In total, 5 521 couples have been married at Skansen since 2005. Wedding ceremonies have, however, taken place at Skansen long before that, meaning the actual number is considerably higher.
On the same day that booking opens for the summer drop-in weddings, Skansen will also host its first-ever winter wedding.
Booking and further information:
Booking for the summer drop-in weddings opens on 14 February at 10.00. Booking for this year’s winter wedding is now closed.
