Stockholms Auktionsverk is reintroducing a dedicated live auction for prints and editions — for the first time in 13 years. Today marks the release of the catalogue for The Prints & Editions Sale, bringing together some of the most sought-after names in art history and more than 200 high-quality works.

The Prints & Editions Sale features some of the greatest names in art history, including Christo, Pablo Picasso and Albrecht Dürer.

Interest in prints and editions at Stockholms Auktionsverk is strong and continues to grow. Local Swedish demand remains robust, while numerous international sellers and buyers are actively participating — clear evidence of the auction house’s well-established position as a marketplace where quality and strong final prices are at the forefront.

“Prints and editions are a fantastic way to connect with the great artists. It is a category where both new and experienced collectors can find works of high quality. We are also seeing a growing awareness of the possibilities within printmaking—both as an art form and as a starting point for building a personal collection,” says Fredrik Fellbom, specialist in prints and modern art at Stockholms Auktionsverk.

“At the same time, we see how international interest in Stockholms Auktionsverk continues to elevate both quality and relevance, making our print auctions just as dynamic and exciting as other categories on the market today.”

Highlights of The Prints & Editions Sale span centuries and extend into contemporary art. Among them is Albrecht Dürer’s The Small Horse from 1505—an early impression in excellent condition with a fascinating provenance. Pablo Picasso is represented by several works, including L’Homme à la Guitare (1915), a small and well-preserved Cubist piece, as well as Minotaure aveugle guidé par une fillette dans la nuit from La Suite Vollard (1934), considered one of the most significant prints in the series and likely an early proof.

Joan Miró’s La Main (1953) is a sought-after color etching featuring the artist’s characteristic visual language, while James Rosenquist’s complete suite III (South, West, North, East) from 1974 has been preserved in its original packaging since publication. Andy Warhol’s Ingrid Bergman – With Hat (1983) is an iconic motif with a legendary Swedish connection, while Christo’s Wrapped Trees, Project for the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Paris (1987) presents one of the artist’s visionary projects.

“This auction truly demonstrates the breadth of printmaking, from Old Masters to modern and contemporary art. There is something for everyone, whether you are acquiring your first work or looking to further develop your collection,” says Fredrik Fellbom.

The viewing of The Prints & Editions Sale opens on April 17 at Nybrogatan 32 in Stockholm and runs until the auction day on April 29.
