“HATSUNE MIKU LIGHTS TOKYO” Debuts on July 25

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been presenting year-round projection mapping displays on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, using light and sound to showcase a wide range of artistic expressions as part of its efforts to create new nighttime tourism attractions in Tokyo.

On Saturday, July 25, "HATSUNE MIKU LIGHTS TOKYO", featuring the globally beloved virtual singer Hatsune Miku, held its first screening. The work brings the world of the popular song “M@GICAL☆CURE! LOVE ♥ SHOT!” to life across the entire façade of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Since its launch in February 2024, “TOKYO Night & Light” has welcomed visitors from Japan and around the world, with total attendance surpassing 1.55 million.

As one of Tokyo’s emerging landmark attractions, the project continues to captivate audiences through its combination of artistic excellence, cutting-edge technology, and world-class content. We look forward to your continued interest and support.

6,700 Visitors on Opening Weekend

On the opening weekend of HATSUNE MIKU LIGHTS TOKYO, approximately 6,700 visitors came to Tokyo Metropolitan Government Plaza, including tourists from Japan and overseas.

Many people gathered at the plaza even before the screenings began, creating a lively atmosphere full of anticipation. Some visitors shared their excitement, saying, “I wasn’t able to see the New Year’s Eve event, so I’ve really been looking forward to today!”
After the screening, visitors commented, “Seeing a giant Miku projected across the entire building was absolutely incredible. It felt like a completely new kind of live performance, and it went by so quickly that I didn’t want it to end,” and “My child loves Miku, so we came as a family, but the scale was beyond anything we imagined. Not only my child, but we parents ended up having just as much fun!”
Through this new show, visitors were able to experience the world of Hatsune Miku on a spectacular scale that can only be enjoyed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.

The projection mapping show presented at the “Happy New Year Tokyo 2026” countdown event on New Year’s Eve 2025 returns with updated visual effects.
A giant Hatsune Miku appears across the facade of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Accompanied by her singing voice, her graceful dance and dazzling beams of light race up the building, illuminating the night in Shinjuku.
During the instrumental break, Hatsune Miku dives into a smartphone screen! Whether on the facade of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building or on your own smartphone, Hatsune Miku is always close at hand.
Now, Hatsune Miku, the virtual singer beloved around the world, takes center stage in one of the world’s largest projection mapping displays, presented on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
