NOTE Finland joins PIA to strengthen collaboration within the Finnish defence industry
5.11.2026 08:00:00 CET | NOTE AB | Press Release
NOTE Finland will become a member of PIA, the Finnish defence and aerospace industry association, from 1 January 2027. The membership strengthens NOTE’s involvement in the Finnish Security & Defence sector and follows significant investments in its electronics manufacturing operation in Hyvinkää.

NOTE Finland provides electronics manufacturing services ranging from prototypes to series production, including PCBAs and complete box-build products. The Hyvinkää operation serves customers across several market segments, with Industrial representing its largest customer segment today.
The new Hyvinkää factory represents NOTE’s most significant investment in Finland since the operation became part of NOTE Group in 2005. Production floor space is approximately twice that of the previous facility, alongside substantial upgrades to the production environment, infrastructure and security. Investments include new SMD assembly equipment and feeders, renewed reflow ovens, X-ray and AOI inspection, cleaning and coating capabilities, as well as investments in traceability, software and competence development.
The new SMD (surface mounted devices) equipment provides additional speed and capacity while improving reliability and technical capability. For NOTE’s customers, the investment also reduces equipment-related production risks and increases the ability to manufacture advanced electronics locally in Finland.
“For us, the new factory is a major milestone. It is our most significant investment in Finland since becoming part of NOTE Group and a strong vote of confidence in our Finnish operation. Above all, it has been made possible by the continued trust of our customers,” says Tommi Kiviranta, Managing Director of NOTE Hyvinkää - Finland.
Security & Defence is a long-term strategic market for NOTE. Through the PIA membership, NOTE Finland aims to deepen its relationships within the Finnish defence industry and contribute its experience of manufacturing demanding electronic products, from industrialisation and sourcing through production, testing and final assembly.
“Joining PIA is a natural next step for NOTE. We combine local manufacturing in Finland with the experience and capabilities of the wider NOTE Group. The investment in Hyvinkää demonstrates that we see long-term opportunities here, and we want to contribute with what we know best: manufacturing reliable electronics,” says Filip Svanberg, Sales Director Security & Defence at NOTE.
For Filip Svanberg, an important part of the membership is also the potential for closer cooperation between companies across the Finnish defence ecosystem.
“Many PIA companies develop their own products and specialist technologies. Our role can be complementary: helping customers industrialise those products and move from prototypes into reliable series production. Being part of the same network makes it easier to understand each other's capabilities and identify where we can work together,” says Filip Svanberg.
The investment in Hyvinkää also reflects increasing customer focus on manufacturing location and dependable supply. NOTE sees continued potential for growth in Finland, particularly in demanding applications where customers value quality, reliability, flexibility and manufacturing close to their operations.
PIA membership takes effect on 1 January 2027.
