Film i Väst, Scandinavia's biggest film fund, on Saturday arranged a press conference together with the Swedish Film Institute during the Cannes Film Festival for Swedish and international media to present this year’s Cannes line-up. Film i Väst has four co-productions in selection.

Film i Väst has four co-productions in selection at this year's edition of Cannes Film Festival; The Worst Person In The World by Joachim Trier, The Innocents by Eskil Vogt, Lamb by Valdimar Jóhannsson and A Chiara by Jonas Carpignano. The directors Joachim Trier, Eskil Vogt and Valdimar Jóhannsson presented their films at the press conference.

- It is a stated goal for Film i Väst to have films in selection at the world's largest film festival, so it is fantastic and a great success that we have four co-productions in Cannes this year. All of them shot or post-produced in western Sweden, says Kristina Börjeson, Head of Production at Film i Väst.

Film Väst is the most successful regional film fund in Scandinavia. Film Väst seeks projects that can compete in the most prestigious film festivals and/or be seen by a large international audience. Film Väst accepts applications for feature film co-productions throughout the year. All co-productions are required to bring elements of production or post-production to Region Västra Götaland, work with a Swedish production partner, and hire crew and workers from the region.

Oscar nominee and Cannes winner Kirsten Dunst together with Daniel Brühl, double winner of Palme d’Or Ruben Östlund, Palme d’Or nominated Magnus von Horn and distinguished actress Trine Dyrholm, were among the guests when Film i Väst held it’s traditional press conference in Cannes in front of an upload of journalists. Nine new co-productions were introduced together with the five co-productions competing in Cannes.

During the film festival in Venice Film i Väst Analysis introduces av unique, pan-European study, All that is solid melts into air – Public Film Funding at a Crossroads II. It is presented at a seminar as a part of Venice Production Bridge by Tomas Eskilsson, head of Film i Väst Analysis. Public Film and Audiovisual Policies and Funding at a Crossroads is a research project in three parts that explores and discuss the future purpose and relevance of film and audiovisual funding. Last year’s much talked about and debated report Public Film Funding at a Crossroads is now followed up with All that is solid melts into air – Public Film Funding at a Crossroads II.
