Gigstep and Ideon Science Park join forces with Godsent to create a unique esport tournament for companies in Skåne.

Gigstep would like to describe themselves as a hybrid solution between a traditional consulting company and a platform for freelancers – aka giggers. There's a job for everyone and finding the perfect match for both parties is truly their passion.

Since the establishment of Ideon Games in 2020, esports has been a vital strategic focus for Gigstep. The focus has been on community building, the opportunity to collaborate, and compete against other companies. "We are excited to continue our partnership with Ideon Science Park and Godsent for this year's Ideon Games," said Fredrik Mohlin, CEO of Gigstep.

Ideon Science Park is a dynamic hub for innovation and technology in southern Sweden. With a focus on collaboration between businesses, academia, and public organizations, Ideon Science Park provides the ideal environment for companies to innovate, develop, and grow.

Ideon Science Park initially held Ideon Games exclusively for companies within the park, but due to the high demand for participation, the event has expanded to include businesses from the entire region. "We are delighted to work alongside Gigstep and Godsent to create a unique event for esports and gaming in Skåne," said Lotta Wessfeldt, Acting CEO of Ideon Science Park.

Godsent is a world-renowned professional esports organization that competes in the game CS:GO (Counter Strike) and has been active since 2016. With multiple players and creators in the organization, Godsent is today one of Sweden's largest clubs.

The idea of Ideon Games came about when Ideon Science Park and Gigstep merged in 2020 to create an innovative corporate activity as an alternative to the classic game of rounders – but that in the same way promotes health, team building, and well-being in the workplace. Combined with the great interest in esports, this ultimately led to the corporate tournament Ideon Games - where colleagues can come together, play, and create a sense of togetherness outside of their workplace.

Since 2021, Ideon Science Park and Gigstep have arranged the annual gaming event Ideon Games. An appreciated event, but the organizers have had difficulty attracting female gamers. With Godsent as a new partner, we see that we can fill more positions and work harder, better and smarter with the issues we value. This includes issues such as diversity and gender equality in gaming. With initiatives, such as "Girls in Gaming", we see that Ideon Games has an even better chance this year to bring in more women as players, better diversity, but also of course a very cool event.

Ideon Games begins with a six-week digital tournament where all teams compete against each other. The highest-ranked teams from the group stage then move on to the semi-finals and finals - which will be held live in front of an audience on October 27th at Slagthuset in Malmö.
