Dela

On 6 June, Skansen invites guests to a grand celebration of Sweden’s National Day, offering a full day of activities for all ages, live music and a vibrant market. The festivities culminate in an evening concert on the Solliden stage, graced by royal presence and performances by some of Sweden’s most beloved artists.

Throughout the day, the park is alive with festive spirit – from traditional games and crafts to folk dancing, choral music and a bustling market featuring Swedish delicacies and handmade goods. With Skansen in full bloom, the atmosphere is one of tradition, joy and celebration.

As evening falls, the National Day concert begins on the Solliden stage. In a cherished tradition, the royal family arrives by horse-drawn carriage to attend the ceremony. The King and the Prime Minister deliver addresses, flags are presented and the evening features performances by Seinabo Sey, KAJ, Ola Salo, Peter Jöback, Sofia Karlsson, Adolf Fredrik’s Boys Choir and the Royal Swedish Army Band.

In 1893, Skansen’s founder Artur Hazelius established a day of national celebration to unite the country. Since then, Sweden’s National Day has been marked on 6 June. Since the late 1980s, Swedish public service television SVT has broadcast the celebration from Skansen, where the royal family, along with members of parliament, the government and ambassadors, are honoured guests. However, the celebration at Skansen is not limited to invited guests – it is open to everyone who wishes to join, and to viewers across the country.

National Day at Skansen begins at 10.00. The evening programme will be broadcast live on SVT1 and SVT24 (with audio description) 20.00-21.50.
