Stockholms Auktionsverk is proud to present The Curated Classics & Fine Jewellery Sale, a celebration of the finest classical art, decorative arts, and jewellery. This live auction features highlights such as Queen Josefina of Sweden’s magnificent pearl earrings, a selection of silver treasures from the renowned Jan Ribbhagen collection, rare wall-lights attributed to André-Charles Boulle, and Adriaen Cornelisz van Salm’s grand depiction of the Battle of Málaga.

The Curated Classics & Fine Jewellery Sale brings together masterful paintings encompassing four centuries, alongside exquisite furniture, magnificent objets d’art, and decorative pieces of the highest quality.

The decorative arts section offers an extraordinary array of French bronzes rarely seen in Sweden. Among the standout pieces is Pierre-Philippe Thomire’s breathtaking Empire-era gilt-bronze table centerpiece. Equally captivating are a pair of wall-lights attributed to André-Charles Boulle, crafted in the Louvre workshops around 1715, a refined Louis XVI-style chandelier, and a rare oriental carpet once belonging to Agathon Carl Theodor Fabergé’s private collection.

"Boulle was one the most important designers of the Louis XIV’s era, adorning both the Louvre and Versailles. To have such works in private hands in Sweden, and to offer them at auction, is truly extraordinary," says Markus Anderzon, Specialist in Antique Furniture and Crafts at Stockholms Auktionsverk.

The sale also honors one of Sweden’s most celebrated silver connoisseurs. Around 60 carefully selected silver pieces, gold caddies, and jewellery from Jan Ribbhagen’s esteemed collection will be offered.

"Jan Ribbhagen always sought the very best. Each object in this selection reflects his passion and discerning eye, making it a joy to present them," says Anna Wehtje, Specialist in Silver and Preciosa at Stockholms Auktionsverk.

Among the silver highlights is also a true numismatic rarity: a gilded precious piece by Ruprecht Miller, created for King Karl IX’s Eriksgata in 1609, featuring one of the earliest preserved depictions of Gustav II Adolf.

Royal provenance takes centre stage in the jewellery section, featuring a pair of one-of-a-kind pearl earrings set in gold and diamonds, once worn by Queen Josefina of Sweden. Inherited from her mother, Princess Augusta Amalia of Bavaria, they are believed to have been a gift from her mother-in-law, Joséphine de Beauharnais, Empress of France and consort to Napoleon I.

The art section presents a strong collection of Nordic painting. Erik Henningsen is represented with works such as “Morgenturen”, capturing movement and modernity, and the lyrical "Watching the Sunset". Karl Nordström’s "Fiskekuttrar i hamnen” reflects his impact on modern Swedish landscape painting, while Olle Hjortzberg’s “Ängsblommor” impresses with its colour and ethereal quality. Helmer Osslund’s autumn landscape evokes the northern light in a stunning natural scene, and Thomas Fearnley’s “View of Stockholm, from Kungsholmen” offers a romantic panorama of the 1820s cityscape.

"Our sculpture selection is equally exciting. This auction features seven remarkable works by Ruth Milles, demonstrating her artistic range and creativity," says Cecilia Berggren, Specialist in Classical Art at Stockholms Auktionsverk.

The Old Masters section include Adriaen Cornelisz van Salm’s exceptionally large and well-preserved painting of the decisive naval Battle of Málaga (1704), Innocenzo da Imola’s elegant Renaissance sacral work, and a portrait of the young King Karl XI by the atelier of David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl.

The catalogue for The Curated Classics & Fine Jewellery Sale is now available here. Viewings begin on 28 November at Nybrogatan 32, Stockholm, with the auction taking place on 9–10 December.

Those seeking extraordinary royal provenance should turn to the jewellery section of The Curated Classics & Fine Jewellery Collection. These unique pearl earrings were worn by Queen Josefina of Sweden.
