Throughout the park, activities inspired by Astrid Lindgren’s beloved characters will be offered. Guests may test their strength like Strong Adolf, balance like Madicken, carve wood like Emil, try Pippi’s “don’t-touch-the-ground” obstacle course, and jump hurdles with a hobby horse inspired by Alfonso (Pippi’s horse).

Traditional outdoor games will also be featured, including jumping in haystacks and activities from past generations such as rolling hoops, walking on stilts and sack racing. Face painting with freckles and crafts will be available throughout the weekend, and Skansen’s street musicians will perform songs from Astrid Lindgren’s repertoire.

A large open-air market will be held during the event, offering a variety of goods ranging from toys to sweets. In the spirit of Pippi, pancakes and sparkling lemonade will be served.

Skansen’s main stage will host the lively and humorous musical “Pippi Has a Party”, performed in Swedish and produced by Teater Pegasus. The performance also features children from the Ballet Academy (Balettakademien). In the story, Pippi hosts a farewell party in her garden together with her father Efraim and the sailors from the Hoppetossa ahead of their journey to the South Seas. The production is based on the well-known songs from Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking stories and invites the audience to join in sing-alongs.

– When Pippi arrives at Skansen, it becomes a true celebration. Songs, laughter and playful mischief fill the park from morning to evening. During this weekend, imagination takes centre stage, and guests of all ages are invited to celebrate in Pippi’s joyful spirit, says Marie Olofsson, programme manager at Skansen.

The weekend is organised in collaboration with the Astrid Lindgren Company. The musical “Pippi Has a Party” is produced by Teater Pegasus Produktion and features students from the Ballet Academy.
