New: Skansen Expands Walpurgis Night Celebrations with Children’s Walpurgis
4.3.2026 08:50:00 CET | Skansen open-air museum | Pressmeddelande
This year, Skansen in Stockholm introduces Children’s Walpurgis, a new addition to its traditional Walpurgis Night celebrations. To enable the youngest guests to take part in a festive and atmospheric spring celebration, children and adults are invited to gather around the bonfire at Sollidsplan starting at 17.00. Admission is free for all children up to 15 years of age.

Children’s Walpurgis takes place earlier in the evening, ahead of Skansen’s traditional Walpurgis celebration. The program features classic spring songs, live music, play activities, and the distinctive atmosphere associated with this long-standing tradition. Younger children will have the opportunity to experience Walpurgis at close range – listening to choral singing, experiencing the magic of the bonfire and taking part in the celebration.
– Walpurgis Night is one of Skansen’s most beloved and anticipated traditions, but the festivities can run late for many children. With Children’s Walpurgis, a dedicated celebration is created for the youngest guests. Skansen is not aware of any other venue in Stockholm hosting an early-evening Walpurgis bonfire specifically for children, making this initiative a unique addition to the city’s spring celebrations, says Marie Olofsson, programme manager at Skansen.
The initiative is primarily aimed at children aged 3–9, while welcoming all who wish to celebrate the arrival of spring before the evening grows late. Food, snacks, and beverages will be available for guests of all ages.
Practical information
Date: 30 April

The Walpurgis celebrations are included in Skansen’s regular day admission ticket and annual pass. Admission is free for all children up to 15 years of age.
