Skansen Recrafted expands with a new release of handcrafted cushion covers made from reclaimed textiles and fabric remnants sourced from the costume department at the open-air museum Skansen in Stockholm, Sweden. Each piece is one of a kind, bearing traces of its previous life – textile craftsmanship where history is given renewed function in contemporary interiors.

Skansen Recrafted is available at the Skansen Shop in Stockholm, with a selected range offered online.

The collection is rooted in a circular approach in which existing materials within Skansen’s holdings are carefully repurposed and reimagined. Textiles from different historical periods are combined with reclaimed details such as decorative trims and buttons, all assembled with a high level of artisanal skill.

The spring release presents a rich variation of patterns, textures and textile techniques. Large stylised 18th-century roses meet smaller floral and foliate motifs derived from 19th-century printed cotton fabrics. Restrained stripes are paired with stylised botanical elements in patchwork compositions. Each cushion cover features different front and back panels, further emphasising the handcrafted character.

Skansen Recrafted demonstrates how historical textiles can be revitalised within a modern context. The collection brings together traditional craftsmanship, conscious design and a resource-aware approach to sustainability.

The cushion covers are available at the Skansen Shop in Stockholm, with a selected range offered online. Each purchase supports the Skansen Foundation’s work to preserve Sweden’s natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
