Researchers have 3D printed the world’s smallest wineglass using a new technique20.6.2023 12:00:00 CEST | Press release

Researchers have 3D-printed the world’s smallest wine glass—nearly indistinguishable with the naked eye—with a rim smaller than the width of a human hair. But the idea wasn’t to cater to extremely light drinkers. Rather, the glass was printed to demonstrate a new simplified technique for creating silica glass structures for a range of applications from telecommunications to robotics.

Tiny quantum electronic vortexes can circulate in superconductors in ways not seen before1.6.2023 20:00:00 CEST | Press release

Within superconductors little tornadoes of electrons, known as quantum vortices, can occur which have important implications in superconducting applications such as quantum sensors. Now a new kind of superconducting vortex has been found, an international team of researchers reports. Egor Babaev, professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, says the study revises the prevailing understanding of howelectronic flow can occur in superconductors, based on work about quantum vortices that was recognized in the 2003 Nobel Prize award.
