With only two days remaining until this year’s Nobel Prize ceremony, Albert Einstein’s correspondence with mathematician Chaim Herman Müntz drew significant attention at The Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts Sale. The unique collection of letters sold for a total of SEK 1,175,000, contributing to making the auction the most successful book sale in the history of Stockholms Auktionsverk, with total sales reaching nearly SEK 8.2 million.

Stockholms Auktionsverk Helsinki presents the spring Modern Art & Design auction, which goes under the hammer on April 27. The auction's main highlight is Paavo Tynell's rare ceiling lamp 9018, originally designed for the iconic Finland House restaurant in New York. The restaurant opened in Manhattan in April 1948, and a completely new lamp model was designed to decorate the bar on the upper deck of the restaurant. The lamp was then manufactured at the Taito factory on Vilhelmsberginkatu in Helsinki. "Paavo Tynell's lamps have always been sought after, especially the models he created for cafés, restaurants, and other public spaces – because this usually means that they are produced in a small edition and are of high quality. In addition, his aesthetic is very distinctive and recognizable, and his name will always be associated with well-made and stylish lamps," says Dan von Koskull, branch manager and specialist at Stockholms Auktionsverk Helsinki. For this year's final Fine Art & Antiques auction, the striking portrait "Lisbeth by the Birch" by the renowned Swedish artist Carl Larsson will go under the gavel at Stockholms Auktionsverk. The motif is recognized from the artist's monumental work "Breakfast in the Green", painted in 1910-1913, where Carl Larsson depicts his family’s breakfast excursion to Bullerholmen just south of the farm Lilla Hyttnäs in Sundborn. The painting that is currently up for sale is dated 1910 by the artist himself, and in it only his second oldest daughter Lisbeth is portrayed. “Although Lisbeth is a central figure in "Breakfast in the Green", she almost disappears into the main scene, but here she really gets to shine and is portrayed in the warm twilight of late summer rather than the early morning hour.
