The international live auction The Fine Watches Sale features close to 130 fine timepieces from leading watchmakers including Audemars Piguet, Breguet, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Omega, Patek Philippe and Rolex. One of the auction’s most striking highlights is a rare white gold Rolex Daytona with a meteorite dial – crafted from a fragment of a celestial body that travelled through space for billions of years before reaching Earth.

Stockholms Auktionsverk’s autumn editions of its international live auctions, The Modern Art Sale and The Contemporary Art Sale, place the Anna-Stina Malmborg & Gunnar Höglund Collection and the Körsbärsgården Collection firmly in the spotlight.

Her life was marked by artistic achievement, personal tragedy and a dramatic struggle against prejudice and illness. Sigrid Hjertén became one of the leading figures of Swedish Modernism, and one of her most significant paintings is now coming to auction. Ahead of the international live auction The Modern Art Sale on 18 November, Stockholms Auktionsverk presents Badscen (Badstranden och skuggan) with an estimate of SEK 6–8 million.

One of Sweden’s most significant private collections of Swedish and international post-war art is to be offered at auction at Stockholms Auktionsverk. Anna-Stina Malmborg and Gunnar Höglund were among the passionate Swedish collectors who embraced the international avant-garde at an early stage. Estimated at SEK 2–3 million, it stands out in a catalogue that also features Danish design of the highest calibre, sought-after furniture by Axel Einar Hjorth and Otto Schulz, outstanding carpets by Barbro Nilsson and Märta Måås-Fjetterström, fine ceramics, art glass, fine jewellery and international silver.

Today, Andreas Rydén takes up the role of Deputy CEO and Head Specialist, while Lena Rydén becomes Director of the auction house’s Fine Art organisation.

Strong international interest and intense bidding characterized Stockholms Auktionsverk’s live auction, The Curated Classics Sale. The auction culminated in strong results across both furniture and fine art, where three rare watercolors by John Bauer collectively sold for SEK 10.1 million, and an outstanding 18th-century table featuring a top from the era of Emperor Constantine the Great became the season’s most valuable classical piece of furniture on the Swedish auction market, achieving a final price of nearly SEK 2.7 million.

The father of modern botany, Carl Linnaeus, set a new record at Stockholms Auktionsverk’s international auction, The Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts Sale. His letter to the German physician and botanist Christian Gottlieb Ludwig, dated January 22, 1737, sold on Monday evening for SEK 1,875,000, establishing the highest final price ever achieved for a Swedish letter at auction in Sweden.

Classic Week is an international auction week in which Stockholms Auktionsverk brings together the season’s finest works and objects in classical art, decorative arts, jewellery, books, and Asian art under one roof. From 8–11 June, the four major live auctions, The Curated Classics Sale, The Fine Jewellery Sale, The Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts Sale, and The Asian Fine Art Sale, will go under the hammer. Spanning several centuries of cultural history, the auctions feature everything from the fairytale worlds of John Bauer and Gustavian master furniture to royal jewellery, a precious Ming Dynasty Buddha, and rare letters by Albert Einstein and Carl Linnaeus.

Strong international bidding resulted in several top results at The Fine Watches Sale — the largest watch auction in the history of Stockholms Auktionsverk. TAG Heuer’s unique tribute watch to the racing icon Ronnie “Superswede” Peterson sold for SEK 1 million, while a Patek Philippe Grand Complications Perpetual Calendar achieved the auction’s highest final price of SEK 3,250,000.

Stockholms Auktionsverk’s auctions The Modern Art Sale and The Contemporary Art Sale concluded with strong results, a world record for Lena Cronqvist, and several significant million-plus sales.

Stockholms Auktionsverk will present three masterful works by John Bauer at its live auction, The Curated Classics Sale, on 10 June. The watercolours "Ut i vida världen" (Out into the wide world), Prinsessa (Princess) and "Sjökungens drottning" (The Sea King’s Queen) embody several of the defining qualities of the artist’s iconic visual universe – a world that has shaped our collective image of the Swedish fairytale forest and the Nordic landscape.

She was the queen of the Finnish fashion world – and her jewellery became her majestic adornment. Now, the glamorous and highly celebrated jewellery collection belonging to the legendary entrepreneur Kirsti Paakkanen will be offered for sale. The collection, renowned from galas, red carpets, and official appearances around the world, will be featured in the International Spring Auction at Stockholms Auktionsverk Helsinki on May 24.

This spring’s edition of The Design Sale reaches unprecedented heights, featuring the highest total estimate ever achieved for a design auction at Stockholms Auktionsverk.
